APA UCLA Scholar Brunch

APA UCLA Scholar Brunch
As a new school year got to start, the APA UCLA board had a gathering on Oct. 4 with a few of the 2015 scholarship recipients, supporters and past presidents. Over great dim sum at the Palace Restaurant on Wilshire, the scholars had a wonderful opportunity to meet a long time benefactor, Mr. Charlie Woo '72, M.S. '75 and several past presidents. Aspirations were shared. Valuable pieces of advice were offered. We wish the best of luck to the scholars!

General Membership Meeting

Annual General Membership Meeting
The annual membership meeting held on Oct. 19 was a success. Nearly 40 guests came to learn about the missions of APA UCLA and wonderful volunteer opportunities it offers. For most of them the meeting was the first APA UCLA event. Former APA UCLA president and current LA Community College District Trustee Mike Fong '99 delivered an inspiring keynote about the role of UCLA and APA UCLA on his life and career. Grand Central Market with APA UCLA

Welcome to the City: Grand Central Market
APA UCLA and the UCLA Alumni Association returned to Grand Central Market for its annual Welcome to the City tour showcasing this historic location! Sherwin Goo '87 led more than 40 Bruin alumni on the morning of Nov. 7 through the busy aisles of the market pointing out both the old time food vendors as well as the exciting wave of newcomers that are gaining national acclaim. UCLA alumni got the chance to see taco purveyors who had been in business over 60 years next door to famous chefs preparing high quality ingredients in a casual setting – everything from organic pastured raised meats to vegan ramen! Everyone had a great time at the event – we look forward to an even bigger and better event next year!

UCLA-USC Rivalry Mixer
On Nov. 25, APA UCLA and the USC Asian Pacific Alumni Association jointly hosted the Rivalry Mixer at xLanes in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. This annual event is held for members of the two organizations to meet, network and support their alma mater before one of the most intense rivalry games in the nation. The mixer was full of spirit and energy with more than 100 attendees. APA UCLA would like to thank UCLA Alumni Affairs and the USC Asian Pacific Alumni Association for making this year's Rivalry Mixer such an enormous success! We look forward to next season! Go Bruins!
